Stevie's kaleidoscopic "Summer Breeze" bandana bursts with the frenetic energy of a modern city like Seattle, but remains rooted in the more natural forest and mountain landscapes of Washington state. In a vibrant, eye-catching pattern, Stevie's design depicts sharp shinned hawks and butterflies floating on a coastal breeze. Her bandana embodies the bright, airy spirit of these winged wonders soaring above the sound on a warm Summer day.

Like much of Stevie's work, "Summer Breeze" traces a deeper connection to her Chinese heritage and personal experience growing up near the water. Within the delicate dance of the design's colors, patterns, and symbols, there is an appreciation for the harmonious (if often fleeting) balance of the natural world. Seabirds come in on the warm breezes, and seemingly just as quickly head south to escape the cold spells. For a brief moment in time, though, they're able to soar over the sound, adding to the mystique of this magical corner or the world.

Stevie Shao is a Seattle born-and-raised second generation Chinese-American artist, illustrator and muralist. Her bright, bold designs feature characters and themes inspired by her Chinese heritage and the rich history of the AAPI Community in the Pacific Northwest. Her eye-catching, instantly recognizable murals are quickly becoming part of the fabric of Seattle (and beyond), adding welcome color and wonder to the built environment. The natural world, specifically the maritime landscape of Seattle, also plays a central role in Stevie's design sensibility - which made her a no-brainer choice for our Coldwater Collection. In addition to now two incredible BANDITS designs, Stevie 's designs can be seen on products and campaigns for Miir, UPS, Nordstrom, Starbucks, and countless others. Also - if you're ever in Seattle you're sure to see her work in larger-than-life murals across the city.

Real Rent Duwamish

Real Rent Duwamish calls on people who live and work in Seattle to make rent payments to the Duwamish Tribe. Though the city named for the Duwamish leader Chief Seattle thrives, the Tribe has yet to be justly compensated for their land, resources, and livelihood. The organization allows Seattlites and others to stand in solidarity with First Peoples of this land by paying Real Rent. All funds go directly to Duwamish Tribal Services (DTS) to support the revival of Duwamish culture and the vitality of the Duwamish Tribe.

Paying monthly rent acts to uplift the Duwamish Tribe as First Peoples of Seattle in the face of the U.S. government refusing to honor the Point Elliott Treaty of 1855. Descendants of European settler families continue to benefit greatly from the resources of the land incorporating the city we know as Seattle. As guests to this land, those who are not from the tribes of these lands can create a story of equity and action instead of being complicit in dishonoring the treaties.
